NO ASSUMPTIONS

NO ASSUMPTIONS—Making assumptions can be in the practical world of negotiations can be dangerous, and we limit our possibilities and thereby impoverish ourselves by not testing our basic assumptions
0

NO EXPECTATIONS

NO EXPECTATIONS—People are encouraged to have expectations. The law protects them. And yet they entangle us and deplete our energies. In giving them up lies the source of true freedom.
0

EMBRACES 'NO'—A signaling device. The trained negotiator welcomes a ‘no’ because they understand it enables an effective decision.

SENSE OF EASE/TIME TO SPARE

SENSE OF EASE/TIME TO SPARE—when you are at ease and have a sense of time to spare, when you feel, as I am sure you often have, abundant and vital, you have a sense of just being in the flow, especially in action
0

LISTENS

LISTENS—To listen well and to attend. It is said, “When the universe roars only the heavenly dragon observes with calm delight.”
0

ABILITY TO ATTEND

0

FOCUS

FOCUS—If I am so focused on the result, on winning, I can losing focus on the present. Sometimes forgetting about winning altogether and just concentrate on the ball, and my game will improve.

0

GRAVITAS

0

THOROUGHLY AWAKE & PRESENT

THOROUGHLY AWAKE AND PRESENT—To develop this sense of fun and play requires, as you say, real steadiness and an ability to stay awake. When you are with this person do you have a sense that someone is at home? All of us to one extent or another are living in a dream. The question is how often do we wake up and realize it?
