- Shikantaza meditation (with a simple smile)– Shikantaza, means “just sitting” in Japanese. It is a form of Zen meditation (zazen) particularly emphasized in Soto Zen Buddhism. Just sitting does not rely on specific objects of focus, like mantras or visualizations, but rather allows thoughts and sensations to arise and pass without judgment or attachment. The core of shikantaza is to simply be present, aware of the moment, and open to experience.
